Match report from last Saturday, 23rd April 2016, the Ladies 1s v Loughborough Students 5 at English Martyrs Catholic School, Leicester…

Market Harborough Ladies put the icing on the cake of a fantastic season by beating Loughborough Students in the final of the Leicestershire Cup on Saturday.

Harborough have already won promotion to the Midlands leagues for next season and thoroughly deserved their win on Saturday in a tightly contested game against a strong student side.

With the score sitting at 0-0 at half time, the game could’ve gone either way in the second half as the youthful students brought on sub after sub in a bid to break the Harborough ladies down. However, the strong team ethic and will to win that has epitomised Harborough’s season proved too much for Loughborough and goals from Caroline Dow and Val McCarthy ensured that the team brought the cup back home for the 3rd time in 4 years.
