Men’s 3 won 4-1 at home to Melton 3
Goals: Harry Wilford (4)
Player of the Match was Harry Wilford
“Going into this game Harborough were 6 games unbeaten, however they’d lost their momentum after Christmas with two draws. In the previous fixture the 3s convincingly came out on top with an emphatic 5-1 win, so hopes were high…
Harborough started the game very well, with most of the possession and were constantly putting pressure on the Melton defence. Not long in, Harborough found a breakthrough thanks to Harry Wilford, 1-0. The 3s continued to dominate the game and were soon rewarded with another goal, again by Wilford. The game became a bit more even as both teams pressed both ends, this lead to both teams getting a goal, Harborough’s scored once more, Wilford again – there’s a bit of a theme emerging!
Going into half time the score was 3-1, Harborough have had a bad habit of switching off in the first few minutes but they made sure it didn’t happen again. This time it was Melton who were switched off allowing Harborough to get another, scored by, you guessed it, Harry Wilford. Melton started to put on a lot more pressure, however it was easily dealt with by Harborough, and the match ended 4-1 to Harborough – a great performance from everyone! Thanks to the parents and supporters who came to watch.”
Badgers lost 1-3 away to Welford
Goal: Owen Arthur
“We had a great game against Welford this week, but unfortunaley the outcome does not reflect our play. We lost 3-1, but within the first 10 minutes of the game we had missed 4 shots on their goal. It was only a matter time before we got one, and soon with great work in the Dee by the forwards, Owen scored. At half time we were ahead, but Welford came back out with all their big players on pitch and the little ones subbed off, and they soon put the pressure on and squeezed some goals past us.
Well done all. A big thanks to TP for helping out last minute because we were short – who was questioned by Welford as they thought he was 17! We better mention how the 3 goals were scored against us, number 1 was a good goal, number 2 came off Rory’s head – which was bad luck and also a big bump now on his head – number 3 was my fault with a bad deflection and a home goal (again!).
We played one of our best games this week against a strong opposition, so well done all. Thanks to all the supporters again who keep us going.”
The U10s travelled to Rugby for a very cold tournament on Sunday.
“An amazing turn out and everyone played really well against some tough opposition from Rugby and Towcester.
Well done everyone!”
