Men’s 2 won 5-2 at home to Ashby 3

Goals: Matt Cook (2), Matti Hodgson, Jack March & Richard Goswell

“Yet another win this week for the Men’s 2’s. This week we played against a team who finished 3rd last season in the league. Harborough fielded a strong team again this week, with consistent gameplay throughout and excellent passing across the pitch.

The score in the end was 5-2, and this score really reflected the quality of our game. We had strong support from the side line as well with plenty of cheering.”

Men’s 3 won 2-1 at home to Sutton Coldfield 7

Goals: Wyn Sleeman & Thomas Ainsworth

Player of the Match: Thomas Ainsworth

“The game started well, after many failed attempts in recent weeks, with a Wyn Sleeman goal from a short corner. The lead was then doubled by an impressive shot from the edge of the circle by Thomas Ainsworth.

In the second half Harborough battled hard and managed to secure the win thanks to some brilliant defending and an impressive save from a penalty flick. Player of the Match was awarded to Thomas Ainsworth for his brilliant goal.”

Women’s 2 lost 1-6 away to Leicester City Ladies 4s

Goal: Cat Dabbs

Player of the Match: Cat Dabbs

“The Women’s 2s lost 1-6 this morning in a tough game away to Leicester City 4s. The team played well, with some lovely passing hockey on display, but couldn’t quite convert the many opportunities they created.

Luckily, Cat Dabbs was on hand with a cracking consolation goal – to give her Player of the Match!”

Women’s 3 won 3-1 at home to Leicester City Ladies 5s

Goals: Vanessa Riley, Louise Hosie & Laura Jarmulewski

Player of the Match: Takara Walker

“What a gritty performance from the Women’s 3s! From the first whistle to the last the 3s played with and for each other! I think I speak for the entire team when I say we have never been such a cohesive, hard working team, with such amazing passages of play through the mids to the forwards.

First strike on goal was from the powerhouse in midfield, Laura Jarmulewski. A great daisy run into the D from the half way line, with her wife shouting ‘shoot’ from defence, she duly did and delivered! Harborough carried on pressing and the fantastic midfield work resulted in a stunning pass across the D, onto a reverse stick shot from Vanessa Riley, into the corner or the goal!

We went into the break 2:1 up after a short corner scuffle which resulted in a goal for the opposition. The offence was resolute in trying to push forward and score again but the break came to the Leicester’s aid.

Second half and Harborough still worked hard for the win and some great shot-blocking from GK Roxy Kearns ensured the match was competitive. Louise Hosie managed to convert a D scramble and slot one in and the final score was 3:1 to the 3s!

Great passing play from the mids again: Sally Kirke, Emily Williams, Vanessa Riley, Laura Jarmulewski, Takara Walker, Emily Doe and Emily Murray worked like trojans and ensured Leicester’s chances were few and far between. Thanks to Zoe Marlow who had a sterling game in defence again, and Roxy who was great at instructing the backs and blocking shots. Player of the Match was Takara Walker who had an amazing game!”
