Our results from the weekend, including an exciting top-of-the-table clash for the Men’s 1s!

Men’s 1 won 4-2 away to Leicester Westleigh 1

Goals: Jon Cooper, Harrison Ginn, Bob Read & Tom Williams

Player of the Match: Jake Wilson

“The top-of-the-table clash between Market Harborough 1s and Leicester Westleigh 1s did not disappoint. A flying start saw Harborough go 2-0 up within 10 minutes from a trademark Jon Cooper drag-flick and a devastating counter attack finished by Harrison Ginn. Lapses of concentration allowed Westleigh back into the game with the score at 2-2.

A flurry of stunning saves from Jake Wilson in goal kept Westleigh at bay before Harborough produced a composed and patient second half performance, capped off to win 4-2. The 3rd and 4th goals were scored by Bob Read and Tom Williams.

Harborough remain unbeaten with an impressive tally of 50 goals since the start of the season!”

Men’s 2 won 2-0 at home to Berkswell & Balsall Common 3

Goals: David Blake & Joshua Osborne

Women’s 1 lost 0-2 away to Leicester City Ladies 3s

Player of the Match: Sam Care

“Another rainy away day for the Women’s 1s. In the first half we made some great runs with Charlotte Smith, Rachel Richardson and Emily Grimmett on the right and centre. Leicester managed to wangle some shorts and despite Sam Care’s best efforts, and multiple saves on the line, they managed to score from a rebound.

In the second half the 1s fought and wanted it more as a team, with some great play from everyone. An unfortunate break from Leicester created a rogue attempt at a shot in the D. Hattie Hammond got a good tackle in to prevent a (potentially goal scoring) shot resulting in a short corner for Leicester, which they scored from despite Beth Pedler’s incredible efforts as keeper.

Final score 0-2. Great play all round from the girls, some of our best play. Player of the Match went to Sam who was solid and reliable, as always!”

Women’s 3 lost 0-11 away to Leicester City Ladies 4s

“The 3s rocked up with hope in our hearts and we were ready for anything. Just not Leicester 4s! The game started fairly evenly for a total of 5 mins, then Leicester seemed to step it up. With defence mimicking a chocolate teapot the Harborough goal was peppered with shots.

We had a stand out left back in Georgie Baker, who had a blinder of a game. Laura Jarmulewski worked her socks off and Amy Evans nearly scored. But from the back to the front, this team outplayed us all over the park.”

Badgers won 8-2 at home to Northampton Saints 1

Goals: Ben Matthews (3), Finn Ingram-Hawkes (2), James Parry (2) & Maisie Howe
