Our junior training takes place every Wednesday and Friday throughout the hockey season at Welland Park Academy on the all-weather pitch. There is ample parking and sticks are provided if you don't have your own. You just need trainers with good grip, shin-pads and mouthguards. There is no charge for the first session, to allow players to decide if they wish to continue, and discounts are available for multiple family members.

New in October 2019 – Hockey Heroes

Hockey Heroes

A new fun and welcoming programme aimed at children aged 5–8 that aims to develop both their physical and character superpowers, unlocking the hero inside them!

Hockey Heroes is a 6-week hockey programme aimed at beginners that not only focuses on helping children develop some physical hockey superpowers, such as dribbling, passing and goal scoring, but also places as much emphasis on character development superpowers including teamwork, communication, perseverance and respect. The aim is for children to have lots of fun, experience lots of success, and feel like a hero! This will boost their confidence, and ensure a positive experience of physical activity and sport that will have a beneficial effect in the rest of their life.

Starting in October 2019, our course will run on Fridays at 18:00–19:00 from Friday 25th October – Friday 29th November.

You can find more information about Hockey Heroes here. Book a place for your Hockey Hero here.

Competitive Matches

There is the opportunity for all youngters to play in local tournaments on Sundays throughout the season; we field teams of under 8s, under 10s, under 12s, under 14s and under 16s. Players are not charged to play in U8–U12s Sunday tournaments. For older children there is the chance to play regularly for the Badgers team.

The MHHC Badgers play on Saturdays in the Northamptonshire Two Counties Badgers League. The Badgers League is a good introduction to full sized hockey, and is competitive and friendly. Badgers teams are made up of nine juniors and two supporting adults playing 11-a-side on a full size pitch. Junior players must be under 16-years-old, most are aged between 13- and 16-years-old but some as young as 11-years-old have been part of the squad.

Badgers 2018

Our Badgers team have lots of fun, playing hockey in a supportive and friendly environment. In 2017/18 the MHHC Badgers team was very successful and finished the season top of their league!
