Saturday

Women's 1 drew 4-4 at home to Leicester City 3
Goals: Hattie Hammond (2), Emily Grimmett & Sally Trappitt-Jones
Player of the Match: Vicky Christodoulou

"The game started slow and Harborough were nervous. Leicester got two quick goals off the mark. Then with a turn over from the back, the ball was passed nicely up through the middle, put to the right and pulled back to top of the D for Emily Grimmett to find the back of the net. The game was going back and forth, end to end. It took for Leicester’s keeper to get lost at the top of the D and for Hattie Hammond to take it around the keeper and slot it home. 2-2 at half time.

In the second half, Harborough pushed hard to keep the pressure on. Great work effort throughout the whole team. Vicky Christodoulou in goal saved a huge number of Leicester’s efforts and kept us level for a long time. The team were unlucky to concede a short in which Leicester scored. Didn’t take long for Harborough to fight back and earn our own short. Beautiful play between Sally Trappitt-Jones and captain, Ellie John, saw Sally slip into the corner for a third equaliser. Open play saw Leicester get another goal (told you it was end to end) but Harborough continued to play the better and cleaner hockey. We got another short in the last 2 minutes and a second goal from Hattie meant the game ended 4-4.

The girls played well and fought hard. Player of the Match was Goalkeeper Vicky."

Women's 3 lost 2-3 at home to Leicester City 4
Goals: Amy Evans & Ella Partridge

Men's 1 won 4-3 away to Coventry City University 1
Goals: Adam Smith (2), Johnny Cordingley & Matt Cook
Player of the Match: Adam Smith

Men's 2 lost 0-3 at home to Rugby & East Warwickshire 5
Player of the Match: Raoul Mercer

Men's 3 lost 0-2 away to Coventry & North Warwick 3
Player of the Match: Luke Reeves

"Harborough started off slow and allowed a cheap goal in but battled on and picked up the pace of the game. Another goal went in for Coventry despite Harborough’s strong efforts. Player of the Match goes to Luke Reeves for some fantastic saves throughout the entire game. The final score was 2-0 to Coventry and North Warwick."

Mixed A won 3-2 away to Druck Aardvarks (Junior Plate)
Goals: Adam Pardon, Cian Kirke & Toby Fletcher
Player of the Match: Jake Sutherland

"We arrived at Groby one man down and we promptly went one goal down. Not to be disheartened we took a hold in the game and just before half time the incessant pressure resulted in Cian Kirke equalising.

The second half continued as the first and from a short corner Adam Pardon drilled in a low shot to give us the lead. We still had chances to put the game to bed but conceded a goal from a short corner with 10 minutes to go. With 2 minutes to go we were awarded a penalty flick and Toby Fletcher stepped forward and put the stroke away.

We then just had to navigate the last moments of the game with one last short corner to defend and with that sorted there was much heartfelt whooping, hollering and hugging as our season will end with a final.

Player of the Match goes to Toby Fletcher for scoring a flick."

Badgers lost 0-4 at home to Welford

"The scoreline does not reflect what was a close game, with Harborough having many attempts at goal but not being quite able to convert. The last 2 goals were scored in the last minute of the match, which as a shame for the Badgers who all played brilliantly throughout. Well played everyone!"

Sunday

Mixed A drew 2-2 away to Leicester Medics
Goals: Cat Dabbs & Tom Pedler
Player of the Match: Jake Sutherland

"At half time it was still 0-0 and the second continued as the first until halfway through the second half Harborough finally managed to break the deadlock when from a short corner Tom Pedler drove a low shot into the near post corner. Five minutes later another short corner led to a slip from Laura Jarmulewski to Cat Dabbs who turned the ball in at the far post.

Really from 2-0 up and with 10 minutes to go Harborough should have seen the game out but two late goals led to the game finishing 2-2 – which in truth was a fair result."
