"Well played all, the Mixed had a very good game against Druck; even though they won, we had a few good chances on their goal."

Saturday 28th September

Mixed A won 3-2 away to Harlequins
Goals: Lee Gaterell (2) & Harry Wilford
Player of the Match was Jake Sutherland

"With both teams playing one lady down the only question to be answered was who would use the additional space better, and whether our young-uns would outplay their old-uns.

At half time we were 2-1 up with two goals from Lee Gaterell, the first a scruffy scramble, and the second a far post deflection defending himself from a rising delivery from Emily Williams which he played down to short leg.

In the second half our young midfield battled admirably to protect the defence and reduced Harlequins to trying to catch us on the break. Special mention should go to Harry Wilford who capped a fine debut with a stirring half-time team talk and a cheeky winning goal with 10 minutes to go.

We came off the pitch having won a very even game and whilst I’m sure there will be more twists and turns ahead, I think it will be done with collective smiles."

Women’s 1 lost 1-3 away to Loughborough Students Ladies 5s
Goal: Dom Lammie
Player of the Match was Dom Lammie

"Women's 1 lost 3-1 to Loughborough Students 5s. The game started as in pre-season with Harborough dominating possession for the majority of the first half, creating a lot of chances but not managing to convert. A lapse of concentration at the start of the second half gifted a goal to Loughborough after the ball bobbled over a number of sticks. They followed that up with two drag flick goals from short corners.

Harborough didn't give up and kept pressing and moving the ball around with several chances and short corners and finally got a goal when Ellie John played it through to Dom Lammie to slip past the keeper. Harborough almost had another right at the death only for the ball to be kicked off the line... no flick was given and Fiona Ginn got a green card for her protests.

A frustrating result that doesn't reflect the possession and chances created. Learning lesson – if they can drag flick it, don't give away shorts!"

Women’s 2 drew 1-1 away to Ashby Ladies 3s
Goal: Faith Naylor
Player of the Match was Cat Dabbs

"Throughout the game, the 2s kept possession up and down the pitch, creating many chances that just missed, or bounced off the post. A cracking new player, Cat Dabbs, perfectly filled the gap in the middle, and Faith Naylor was rewarded for her hard work with a fabulous goal to secure the 1-1 draw.

A result that doesn't quite reflect the possession the 2s commanded in the game, but it was good to be back and there were plenty of smiles! The team hope to convert more of their chances in the coming weeks!"

Women’s 3 lost 1-5 at home to Ashby Ladies 2s
Goals: Emily Doe
Player of the Match was Roxy Kearns

"Women's 3 lost 1-5 at home to Ashby 2s. It's a slightly frustrating final score, given that the 3s ended the 1st half 1-0, but towards the end of the game a lack of match fitness possibly contributed to a loss of shape and Ashby became relentless in the pursuit of goals.

I *think* the 3s all had a whale of a time though, so, between that and evidence of both progress already made and progress yet to come, it's fair to say that the team are excited for the season. Well played all: Amazeballs."
