Our results – a good win for the Men's 2s in their away match this weekend, and our Men's 4s received compliments from the umpire in their game.

Saturday

MEN'S 1 lost 0-2 at home to Leicester 1

MEN'S 2 won 6-2 away to Sikh Union (Coventry) 2

Goals: Nick Hall (2), Ben Langdown & Daniel Rose (3)

MEN'S 3 drew 3-3 at home to Northampton Saints 5

Goals: Noel Burton (2) & Richard Goswell

Player of the Match: Simon Scott

A hard fought draw 3-3 against Northampton 5ths for the 3rd team at home today. Harborough were a bit slow to start conceding an early goal but then came back strong. Some good goalkeeping by Thomas Parry kept them out with two goals from Noel Burton to get us a well deserved lead 2-1. Saints came back into it and some great defending by Simon Scott in the centre of defence kept them at bay. However, they kept pushing and got an equaliser to bring it back to 2-2.

Harborough kept going and once again took the lead with a Richard Goswell goal to make it 3-2. Saints managed a very lucky miss-hit that wrong footed Parry to bring it back to 3-3, which was the final score. A good draw but need to get back to winning ways in order to start moving up the table and pull away from the relegation area.

MEN'S 4 lost 0-3 away to Atherstone Adders 4

M4 went down, injured, battered, blooded and fighting 3-0 away to Atherstone Adders. Harborough playing the usual blend of youth and experience went behind inside three minutes following a fortuitous rebound with Atherstone capitalising quicker on the loose ball. Harborough dug deep and more than held their own with lots of end-to-end hockey from both teams. Before the break Atherstone doubled their lead having an extra man over on the cross.

Shortly into the second half Harborough were down to ten men with David Wilford pulling up injured. A reshuffle saw Harborough playing Haydn Moss and Ryan Bacon up front with good service from Louis Dickinson and Jake Sutherland with some great support from Josey Sturgess. Despite being a man down Harborough created chances and still had their fair share of the play. Deep Singh and Richard Parr shoring up the back with Martyn Wilinson playing the holding role and Nathan Brown defending in the channels. As the clock ticked on the extra man advantage began to show for Atherstone, coupled with their substitutes. Harborough held off and defended multiple penalty corners before a lucky defection from a suspect high ball went in past the stranded keeper. Despite pushing for a consolation goal the final score was 3-0 to the home side.

This was by far the 4s best performance of the season and each player should be proud of their performance today. Well done gentleman.
